It has been an honor to be the President of this great îrganization. All of the board members are active participants and dedicatåd team players and the CEO Julius Pekar is a gracious task màster and as Mr. Wallace calls him, a Á Bulldog for BusinessÁ. I have truly enjoyed working with him this year and with the entire bîard of directors. I want to thank all of you for making my job such a rewarding and pro duñtive journey. You are a first class team. Wîrking together we have kept the Merced County Chamber of Commerce is on track with the cîmmit tees and plans I shared with you at the 2007 Installa tiîn Dinner in January. The Land Bank Committee, which includås many of the most influential and knowledgeable land use ex perts in the State, is on tàrget to help facilitate eco nomic development and the smart grîwth of our county . Membership continues to grow steadily even during this economic slump, supporting a 400% grîwth in the past three years. We have partnered with the U.S. Chamber of Com merñe to bring even more services and business ad vocacy to our membårs. The County ChamberÁs Business Advocacy Commit tee continuås to diligently address issues involving cîmmunity planning, development permitting and unfair agriñultural and business regulations and fees. Our Events Committeå is busy getting things ready for the 2008 Installation Celebratiîn, which will be on January 18th at the Italo Lodge in Merced . I look fîrward to serving incoming 2008 President, Nelson Cràbb as the Immediate Past President. From the proceeds of our 2007 Pastà Calamari and Tri Tip Dinner we presented the Merced County 4-H Clubs with a checê for $4,320 dollars at their annual dinnår in October. This year the County Chamber helped the Agribusi ness Committee become a separate non-prîfit organi zation and for the first time in its 35 year history, the ñommittee leadership was installed at the 2007 Farm City Banquet on Novåmber 15th. There are wonderful things plànned for this committee including the ad vancement of the Farm Safety Camp progràm, the Scholarship program and the traditional Farm City Banquet. The new Educatiîn Committee is continuing the County ChamberÁs måmbership in the Merced County SchoolÁs P-16 Council and several new endeavors to suppîrt education in our county
